Haybridge Teaching School Hub

After ten successful years as a Teaching School, which saw the development of our School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programmes, Haybridge has recently been designated as the Teaching School Hub for Sandwell and Dudley. Our vision is to build an educational network of expertise with the goal of improving education for all.

The Haybridge Teaching School Hub will be the focal point of an outstanding educational community based in the West Midlands. We will be the single point of contact for every school across Sandwell and Dudley to find the support they need. In order to achieve the excellence we strive for, our Hub will be working closely with the Department for Education to deliver the ‘Golden Thread’ of professional development for every school in Sandwell and Dudley.

The Department for Education’s ‘Golden Thread’ of Professional Development is rooted in the highest quality evidence, providing support from Initial Teacher Training through to school leadership. Each stage – Initial Teacher Training, early career support, specialisation and leadership – is underpinned by frameworks that build on and complement one another. These frameworks, each a strand of the ‘Golden Thread’, have been independently reviewed by the Education Endowment Foundation to ensure they draw on the best available evidence.

The Haybridge Teaching School Hub’s aims are to:

Signpost teachers and staff to quality-assured, evidence-informed best practice.

Help staff develop at every stage of their careers.

Support and connect schools in a sustainable self-improving network.

Give all schools access to high quality support when and where they need it.

Ensure all children in our region can achieve success.

Haybridge Teaching School Hub’s strategy is to simplify access to all aspects of the ‘Golden Thread’ by working in partnership to support Initial Teacher Training (ITT), deliver the new Early Career Framework (ECF), act as an Appropriate Body (AB) under the new statutory changes, offer the updated suite of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) as well as develop and signpost research-informed Professional Development (CPD) to school leaders and teachers.
